Pradip Krishen directed some well-known films (
Massey Sahib,
In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones) before he became a naturalist and eco-botanist in 1995. He taught himself field botany and began the project of identifying and photographing Delhi's tree flora, walking extensively throughout the city and the Ridge. He has led numerous public tree walks on Sunday mornings and is also a keen "Ecological Gardener" He has created "native-plant" gardens in Delhi, west Rajasthan, and Garhwal.
He is currently working on a large planting scheme for
Nagaur in Rajasthan, as well as in
Khajuraho, in Madhya Pradesh.
His book,
Trees of Delhi: A field Guide, published by DK/Penguin in association with Delhi Tourism and INTACH was released in 2006.
